Traditional vs. Online MRI Courses

If you have already decided to take an online MRI course to earn your MR certification, you must consider what type of program would fit your schedule. While all schools offer similar MRI courses, some offer more than others. A good way to determine the quality is through the CE value of each course and clinical training.

The CE value is a grade on how comprehensive MRI programs are – ARRT requires a minimum of 16 CE for Structured Education. Each program is created to offer techs a different schedule. Programs can range from 14 weeks to 9 months. When comparing MRI programs, choosing the option that includes all tools necessary to complete ARRT requirements, such as Structured Education and Clinical Training, is important.

The pre-registry requirements also include Clinical Requirements. The American Registry of Radiology Technologists requires developing techs to log 125 cases – this helps them learn practical skills and helps to apply them to test questions. Clinical training is the most vital, important, and challenging feat for most technologists looking to sit for their MRI registry.  Finding a program that offers this arrangement will make your training experience very easy. Of course, confirm that all the requirements are offered in the MRI course that you are researching.

The important aspect to consider is your time vs. online MRI courses and how they would fit your work schedule. Traditionally, these programs are offered in a classroom or hospital setting. There will be an instructor in front of you, teaching you everything that you have to know about magnetic resonance imaging. As the student, you’re required to listen in, take down notes, and process all the information being fed to you so you can score very well on the certification exam.

The other method is online training. There won’t be a classroom or instructor in front of you here. You will be equipped with 2-5 hours’ worth of lectures, exercises, and test-taking.
