MRI Registry Review and Various Educational Pathways

Taking the MRI registry exam should be a priority for all MRI technologists, and an MRI registry review would be the best way to help them prepare for it. MRI technologists are in demand, and a fair amount of them are available, but exams like these set them apart.

Practicing with an MRI registry review course and then becoming certified will add to an MRI tech’s competency and preparation. There are 2 different pathways to becoming certified in MRI. The first is known as the primary pathway, and the second is the post-primary eligibility pathway.

The primary eligibility pathway is the most uncommonly used method. This would be for a non-clinical professional trying to enter the field without going through a radiography program or for an ARMRIT technologist.

You’ll need to fulfill certain requirements to go through the primary eligibility pathway. First, you have to have an associate’s degree or higher. The second is to have taken and completed an accredited ARRT-approved educational program in the discipline you’re pursuing. You also need to complete all ARRT clinical requirements. Once these requirements are fulfilled, you will become eligible for the ARRT MR registry and, if successful, will hold an ARRT (MR) credential.

The post-primary pathway is for technologists who are already registered with ARRT but would like to add additional credentials. By going through this pathway, you’ll be able to get credentials in the following fields: bone densitometry, mammography, breast sonography, cardiac interventional radiography, vascular interventional radiography, computed tomography, vascular sonography, and of course, MRI.

The MR credential can be earned through primary or post-primary eligibility pathways. The educational requirements needed to apply for a credential using the post-primary pathway are a little more complicated than those of the primary pathway. It’s recommended that you visit the ARRT website in order to find out more about them. Most importantly, you should already be registered with the ARRT at this phase.

This is a review tool for technologists who can use the extra test preparation. It requires you to already have ARRT credentials in addition to having completed an advanced educational program and ARRT clinical requirements.
